Flurries of Fun

Another entry for The Library Challenge #49. I am always inspired by book covers, so this is the perfect challenge for me. This time, I chose the cover of “The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse” by Susanna Davidson.

I changed my scene to a winter one, and used Hello Bluebird’s “Treehouse Scene” die and the “Frosty Littles” stamps and dies.

How cute is that little door that opens?! I figured if little mice can live in a treehouse, why not a snowman? He just keeps the air conditioning set to super frosty all year! 🤣

25 Days of Christmas Tags- Day 16...my 26th and final TAG!!

My 26th and FINAL TAG for Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags! On Day 21, Tracey featured inspiration from Lawn Fawn! I am a big fan of Francesca Vignoli's sweet style and was inspired by her sparkling pastel unicorn tag!

I used the robot from Lawn Fawn's set with Chibitronics called "Charge Me Up" and paired him with mini lights and a sentiment from Hello Bluebird. The top of the tag was made with a snow stencil and white texture paste. The robot was stamped with clear ink and embossed in silver.

The robot was colored with Zig Clear Color markers and a waterbrush, then covered with Wink of Stella pen glitter. The lights were cut from colored card stock then coated with Lawn Fawn Prisma Glitter. The light string was cut from silver card stock. The snowflakes came from Lawn Fawn's limited edition " Snow Bunnies" set created for Simon Says Stamps' Stamptember.

Thanks SO much to Tracey, her designers and ALL of the companies and Design Team members for putting on a fabulous tag show for us! It's been so inspirational  and fun! Also, a thank you to all who visited my blog and left such sweet comments ❤!

25 Days of Christmas Tags- Bonus Day 26

I'm still posting out of order as I check off my list for Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags! I skipped ahead to her bonus day 26 so that I could use some cute Hello Bluebir stamps! I chose
Marine Simon's cute corrugated tags with the adorable snow angel-making deer from "First Snow!"

I had some cream colored corrugated cardboard, and I die cut the deer from two pieces then placed the die cut inside. The added layer makes it seem like the deer has sunk down into the snow.

Added a snowflake cut with a L'il Ibkers die and a tag from PTI stamped with a sentiment from the Firat Snow set. I colored the deer with Zig Clean Color and Tombow markers and a wet paintbrush. Added lots of Sakura Stardust pen in the space around the deer for snowy sparkle Such sweet and fun images and sentiments at Hello Bluebird!

25 Days of Christmas Tags- Day 3

Taking it back to Day 3 of Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags with Newton's Nook Designs! I was inspired by Jennifer Jackson's fun deer card with the stenciled buffalo plaid background...

I used Newton's Nook Designs Buffalo Plaid Stencil for my background, too, but added a whimsical deer and his skunk pal from Hello Bluebird's "Cocoa Party" set. My deer must be a rare "piebald" cocoa-drinking deer! After starting to color with my Zig Clear Color Markers, I realized that I did not stamp my images on Bristol Smooth cardstock, so blending with water was challenging!

25 Days of Christmas Tags- Day 2

Day 2 at Tracey's 25 Days of Christmas Tags brought the fun and adorable a plenty, with tags featuring images from Ellen Hutson!  I absolutely loved Carly Tee's sweet polar bear monogram cards!

I tried something similar with the bear from Hello Bluebird's new Cocoa Party" set.

First, I sort of masked out the cocoa cup (and some other lines, oops) when stamping!  My Exacto knife skills weren't quite good enough to cut out the little arms carefully enough, so there was some doctoring to be done... but hopefully my daughters Eva  and Claire won't notice! I colored the bears with Zig Clear Color Markers and a paintbrush. The letters are cut with PTI's "Headline Alphabet" die set and are colored with Copic markers and sparkled with Stickles!

25 Days of Christmas Tags- Day 6

I'm starting the first of my 25 Days of Christmas Tags with Tracey McNeely on Day 6!

Today's inspiration comes from Nicky Meek's adorable snowman and bird tag. I am a HUGE fan of her work and find myself staring at her blog, trying to gain her coloring skills through osmosis 😆. Her ability to create the most adorable scenes, from tall to small, astounds me!

I switched up the critters, but kept the shaker window and banner shape for a sweet snowy tag...

I used "First Snow" from Hello Bluebird and colored with Zig Clean Color Markers and a wet paintbrush. I'm finding I have better control when using a paintbrush as opposed to a waterbrush. I'm adding this to my collection for Kathy's 30 Day Coloring Challenge at The Daily Marker.

I can't wait to create more tags for this fun annual event, thank you Tracey and Nicky for today's inspiration!

Wham! Throwdown

Sometimes an idea sticks in your head until you just have to do it! At this week's
Color Throwdown, the color combination of brown, moss green, orange, and cream, had me thinking of bears and puns (I found this one online)...

I made a card featuring adorable new images from Hello Bluebird, and my trusty "Milo's Alphabet" from Lawn Fawn!

Sing it Wham! From the 80's song "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go"... and the giggling bunny from Hello Bluebird's "First Snow" sealed the deal. The adorable bear from "Cocoa Party" stole my heart the moment I saw him!

I colored the images with Zig Clear Color and Tombow Dual Brush markers and a waterbrush. Die cut a circle for the sun and shaded it with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks in Dried Marigold and Scattered Straw. Added some Diamond Stickles, too, then brushed some Bundled Sage and Iced Spruce Oxide inks along the bottom.

I've been playing along with Kathy's 30 Day Coloring Challenge at the Daily Marker when I can, and I am slowly learning to use a lighter hand (and less water!) as I layer colors 😉.

Now you'll be singing that song like George Michael all day! 😆
Thanks for stopping by!

Tiny Town

This week at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog, the theme was "Art Journaling." I don't have one, and researched a little about them so that I could make a Christmas card inspired by journaling techniques. I love how this card turned out and had so much fun making it!

I decided an art journaling card needed these things...lots of ink, a cool background, acrylic paint,  book prints, collage type sentiments, texture, and some tiny "hand-drawn" looking houses and trees would be good in the mix, too! Check, double check! I used Neat and Tangled's "Warm Winter Scene Cover Plate"die and Hero arts "Star Light" cling stamp for my tiny town...

I used a mix of charcoal gray, red, and pink pigment and oxide inks on the background. I cut the houses and trees from Authentique's "Latest and Greatest" collection and roughed them up with some white acrylic paint snow. Added hills cut with a Lawn Fawn "Stitched Hillside Borders" dies and added white texture paste through Kaisercraft's "Snowy" stencil over the top.

Stamped a typed sentiment from Hello Bluebird's "Christmas is Coming" set in Versamark ink and heat embossed with white powder. Added a few Stardust Stickles and Wink of Stella pen on the moon. Popped up the houses and my winter village journaling style card is complete!

Thanks for stopping by!

Merry Bear Sketch

This is my card for Day 2 of Kathy's 30 Day Coloring Challenge at the Daily Marker. It uses Jen Mitchell's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.

I colored the sweet bear and squirrel from Hello Bluebird's ""Christmas. Is Coming" set with Zig Clean Color Markers and a waterbrush.

The background was made with texture paste and The Greetery's Knit Wits Stencil on one side, and Pumice Stone Diatress Oxide ink and Kaisercraft's "Snowy" stencil on the other.

Added some Nuvo Drops, Diamond Stickles, and Crystal Snow glitter here and there for sparkle. The snowflakes and sentiment is also from the "Christmas is Coming" set. Snow much fun! 🤗

It's a Party!

It's the Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge Blog's 10th birthday! So, of course their challenge theme this week is "Happy Birthday!" I chose to throw them a little party with these adorable woodland animals from Hello Bluebird's "Moose & Friends" stamp set...

I am so inspired by designers who create beautifully colored scene cards, so lately, I've been practicing my skills. I love all of the designers' creations at Hello Bluebird, and who can resist their adorable animals and images!

I made a background by softly brushing Distress Inks in Tumbled Glass and Twisted Citron, then cut some hills with a Lawn Fawn die, and a banner with an Amuse Studio die. Colored the die cut images with Zig Clean Color Markers and a waterbrush. Added Wink of Stella pen, Stickles, and Nuvo Drop accents. There is a thick layer of Glossy Accents on the "Happy" balloons. Tied them with black sewing thread because I wanted really thin strings.

I just love that moose blowing out the candles (or a teeny party horn included in the stamp set should you choose), the sweet bunny, and the silly, surprised owl who's floating away!

Happy Birthday to you, SSS Wednesday Challenge! Thanks for all of the inspiration every week!

Spring Mood

This week at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog, there is the sweetest spring mood board that is sure to get your card-making inspiration flowing!

I chose my Hello Bluebird "Banner Buddies" set for a spring scene...

I made a background using the My Favorite Things "Drifts and Hills" stencil, inking Tumbled Glass Distress Ink with brushes at the top, then inking Cracked Pistachio at the bottom. Afterward, I flicked water droplets mixed with Cracked Pistachio, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers, and Peeled Paint inks at the bottom.

Die cut the banner using the Hello Bluebird "Vertical Banner Die" and stenciled it with The Stamp Market's "Plaid" stencil using Picked Raspberry ink

Stamped and die cut the adorable Banner Buddies animals and colored them with Zig Clean Color Markers and a waterbrush. The sentiment is also from the set. Added a woodgrain post for my banner, and speckles of Nuvo Drops and Glossy Accents here and there. Happy Easter to you all!

Cabin Sketch

Narelle at Freshly Made Sketches has a fun layered sketch that is oN their blog until the new year...

I made a little cabin scene using a house die cut from Neat and Tangled's Winter Village plate and some rustic accents. The house was cut from birch tape and sponged with Aged Mahogany Distress ink.

Used a MFT's stencil to make the hills and a mini tree from Pinkfresh Studio's Skating Bunnies. The sentiment is from Hello Bluebird's Christmas is Coming.

A snowy embossing folder matched the Nuvo Drop blizzard that I added to my scene. Some pine boughs cut with Simon Says Stamps' Pine Trio, red pearl berries, and some woodgrain patterned paper to finish off my card!
