Waltzingmouse Stamps July Release Preview, Day 3

Keeping with the beachy keen theme, Waltzingmouse Stamps is releasing another wonderful set that is just perfect for the summer called....My Island!  Come to think of it...this set will also come in handy when we need to cure those winter blues!  It will be releasing tomorrow, July 1st, along with 3 other sets.

And since it's Saturday, that means a new sketch at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog!  This week's sketch is by the lovely Mischief Maker Teresa Kline!

I can't even begin to describe how much fun it is to stamp with My Island!  The set has so many different elements that can be layered and combined to create the perfect scene...and of course we can't forget Claire's unique sentiments in a super cool font!

I used patterned papers from the My Mind's Eye "On the Sunny Side" Collection...how could I pass them up?  :)  Once I had my color scheme set,  I set to work finding as many sunny and tropical inks as I could!

To create the scene, I first stamped the distressed rectangle in light blue ink and masked out a spot to add a sun with a 7/8 inch circle.  Then I went back with the negative piece and sponged it in using yellow and orange inks.  The darker blue at the bottom is a separate image so you can stamp an ocean or sand separately.  I finished by stamping the palm trees in chocolate ink, and cut the whole image out with one of the Deckled Edge Rectangle (small set) dies from Spellbinders.  They work SO well with this set!

Tomorrow is RELEASE DAY!  The Design Team will be back at 2:00 PM EST with the Release Day Blog Waltz featuring more projects with all of the stamp sets...including a FABULOUS one that we've been keeping a secret all week :)  Be sure to stop by Claire's blog to see the full reveals as well as to check out her prize information!

Until then, check out the projects from these fab Design Team members featuring My Island!

Waltzingmouse Stamps July Release Previews, Day 2

Waltzingmouse Stamps is back today with another preview of one of the four sets that will be releasing on Sunday, July 1st!  This one is a totally awesome 3x4 stamp set called North Shore!  I think this is one of my fave images ever...it is the epitome of cool and reminds me of my high school days in New Jersey, just a few miles from the ocean...our high school even had a Surf Team!

I decided to start at Pinterest and typed in "Vintage Surf Posters."  I found a bunch of great ones, but this one caught my eye and was inspiration for both of my cards today.  This plaid paper from Simple Stories "Summer Fresh" collection made me think of board shorts and I love these shades of red and blue together.

I stamped the image in Versamark ink and heat embossed it with white powder.  Such a fun rustic effect!  The tropical flowers from the previously-released Free Spirit-Boy set (which coordinates PERFECTLY with North Shore) are colored with Copics and the middle one is set above the others with dimensionals.  Also added the fun wave image from the set along the bottom.

For my second card, I knew I wanted to create a card featuring the image with a beautiful beach sunset behind it as soon as I got the image in my hot little hands!

I stamped the image on an acetate sheet with black Stazon ink.  I then sponged Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Spiced Marmalade, Barn Door, and Mustard Seed on white paper and placed it behind the images.  The inner white frame is impressed with a woodgrain plate.

I can't even wait to make some more cards with this set, it's sooo much fun!  Be sure to check out these Design Team Members' blogs for more fun at the North Shore and come back here tomorrow for the debut of set #3!

Waltzingmouse Stamps July Release Preview, Day 1

Welcome to the Waltzingmouse Stamps previews!  We will be sharing peeks of four new stamp sets that will be released this Sunday July 1st!  Today we are also previewing one of the sets that comes in a new mini 3x4 size!  It's an addition set for the sweet Half-Pint Heroines set and it's called Heroines-Fairy Princess!

First up is a sweet little fairy all glittered up in the sky.  The sentiment is from Half-Pint Heroines.  I cut a circle with my Nestabilities and then made a coordinating circular frame.  All of my cards today are made with patterned paper from American Crafts Dear Lizzie "Neopolitan" Collection, so girly and fun!

Added some cloud die cuts that I embossed with Cuttlebug and Sizzix folders.  Her dress is paper-pieced with paper from the same collection.

Next up is a princess...with her own castle!  Claire  has drawn up some cut files and templates that will also be ready on July 1st!

I printed the template on pink paper and cut it out by hand (Claire's beautiful cut file/SVG images are really making me consider buying a Cameo about now!)  I ran it through my Cuttlebug with a distressed background and then added some white ink and lots of girly embellishments.  Used Bitty Banners to make my flag and added another sentiment from Half-Pint Heroines.

Hee!  That frog makes me laugh every time!

Be sure to stop and visit these Design Team members' blogs today for more projects featuring Heroines-Fairy Princess!  See you tomorrow with sneak peeks of another set that I think is just one of Claire's coolest sets yet :)!

A Day Late & A Blog Hop Short!

Hee!  I started my card for the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop last night...at 10:25 PM.  Considering my speed of crafting, probably not the best idea when the hop ended at 11:30 PM!  But I couldn't resist the inspiration photo and the color scheme, so I decided to post my final project anyways!

I got out the new Happy Hexagons stamp set and coordinating cover plate and had some fun!

Used a combination of inks and tried to mimic some of the patterns from the photo.  I actually ended up finishing my card this morning before work.  I tried various other focal points and just could not settle on something that I liked before turning in for the night.  When I woke up,  I remembered Betsy and Debbie's hexagon cards paired with images from Quilter's Sampler!  So I added a sentiment and the little thread spool all covered with real (as opposed to fake ??) yellow thread...and a heart stick pin from my stash that surprisingly looks very New Leaf-y!

Thanks for stopping by to take a peek at my "tardy" project this month :)!

Stamps:  Happy Hexagons, & Quilter's Sampler, both Papertrey Ink
Paper:  PTI white
Ink:  PTI New Leaf, Fresh Ink in Pear, Hero Arts Butter Bar, Memento Tuxedo Black

Yellow Rose of Texas Sketch

Y'all know where this is going, right?  Edna Morrisedie has done gone and drawn up a very FUN and challenging sketch at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog this week!

I had to keep with my Western theme of the month and use Back and the Saddle AGAIN :)!

The bottom panels made me think of this woodgrain paper in the My Mind's Eye "Miss Caroline Howdy Doody" Collection and then the card just took shape from there!  I aligned sentiments from Back in the Saddle on an acrylic block and stamped them all at once.

I had colored this rose from Roses In Bloom a few days ago and it was in my "need to use" bin.  I thought it was a perfect Yellow Rose of Texas, then sang that song in my head for the rest of the card-making process!

The Mischief Makers have made some amazing samples with this week's sketch...and now it's your turn to play along, too!  Upload your creation HERE by next Friday, June 29th.  Be sure to include at least one Waltzingmouse Stamps image on your project to be eligible to be the randomly-selected player who will win a WMS stamp set of choice!

Waltzingmouse Stamps June Blog Party!

Even though it's Father's Day here in the USA, it's also a lovely day for a blog party with Waltzingmouse Stamps :)  While my husband was out mowing the lawn (ha!), I snuck away to finish my card.  Edited to add:  I did not ASK him to mow the lawn.  Sometimes I think he actually likes to hop on the mower with his headphones and take a break from the 2 daughters, 1 wife, and 1 girl dog that chatter/bark all day long :)

This month instead of a theme, Lynn chose this lovely inspiration photo!

The color scheme and the distressed furniture really caught my attention.  It seems that June has turned into Western-inspired Month here at my blog, so I made my own version of distressed wood...

Ran some Hawaiian Shores cardstock through my cuttlebug with the Woodgrain Impression Plate from Papertrey Ink.  I then brushed some Picket Fence Crackle Paint over it with a square sponge brush.  Stamped the sentiment from Back in the Saddle then used the Canvas/Linen Impression plate over that.  I framed it with an image with Very Vintage Labels No. 1. then tucked it behind the wood panel which I cut with the coordinating Labels One Nestabilities.

The flowers are from Big Blooms: Poinsettias!  Anya made a card with this set recently and it reminded me about all of the cute images that could masquerade as other flowers during the year.  Come to think of it, while I made this card I was thinking about Anya's clean and simple style a lot!  Maybe I should check her archives because I kind of feel like she made something like this before, hee!

Remember that you have 24 hours to upload your creation to the Mr. Linky set on Claire's blog.  Be sure to check back on June 20th where Claire will be featuring some special projects from the party, as well as announcing the winner of the random-participant who won a WMS stamp set of choice!

Stamps:  Back in the Saddle, Very Vintage Labels No. 1, Big Blooms-Poinsettia, all Waltzingmouse Stamps

Coral Rose Sketch

Another lovely sketch by Mischief Maker Edna Morrisedie for the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog!  I can't wait to see what projects BLOOM from this one...

And my card...

My love affair with the color navy blue continues!  It took willpower, but I decided to pair it with a coral colored rose instead of a RED one :)  I bought the quatrefoil patterned paper by The Paper Studio a few months ago.  At the time, I purchased 12 sheets of it (and it's 12x12!) because I planned on using it for the project to share with my tablemates at the Buffalo swap.  I ended up switching my design, soooo you may be seeing quite a few cards with this paper in the upcoming months, hee!

Colored the rose from Roses in Bloom with Copic markers and then paper-pieced 3 layers back together with dimensionals.  The sentiment is also from the set.  Also used the Grand Labels 11 Nestabilities to make the "topper".

Your turn to play along! Upload your creation HERE by next Friday, June 22.  Be sure to include at least one Waltzingmouse Stamps image on your project to be eligible to be the randomly-selected player who will win a WMS stamp set of choice!

DON'T FORGET!!!  Sunday, June 17th is the Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Party!  Instead of a theme, we are using a gorgeous inspiration photo.  Find the photo and all of the other information about the party HERE!  You will have 24 hours to upload your creation to the Mr. Linky set on Claire's blog.  Special mentions and another random winner of a free set will be announced on her blog on June 20th!  See you there!!

Hoedown Sketch!

That was SUCH a fun week celebrating the 100th sketch at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge blog!  One of the things that I love the most is that there are entries from all over the world.  It makes me heart happy to think of us all crafting in our little spaces around the globe, drawing inspiration from the same sketch!  It was so difficult narrowing down last week's entries to the Top Mice and the Guest Mischief Maker...like truly agonizing!  The entries were so inspiring!  But now it's time for a new sketch as we start making our way to #200 :)

#101......by our fun-loving Mischief Maker Edna Morrisedie!

Here is my card...

I tend to be a "late to the party" trend watcher.  I am just catching the western fever NOW!  I purchased October Afternoon's Sasparilla paper in April and finally got to use some for this card!  I picked up the whole pack just because I was practically weak in the knees over the navy ticking stripe and gingham papers in the pack.  My friend was teasing me because I was buying the pack for two patterns, but I realllllly loved them!  I also seem to be obsessed with the colors navy and red lately (see last week's sketch card :))!!

I was trying to channel Maureen P. when I made this card, because she always makes the most inspiring shabby chic western cards with the WMS set Back in the Saddle!  The little denim half medallion is cut with the Memory Box Woodrow Rosette.  I actually was trying to make a full medallion, but I adhered it wrong and ripped it when pressing it into the center.  It kind of sprung onto my table looking like this, and it turned into a "happy accident" kind of bunting!

Your turn to play along!  Upload your creation with this sketch HERE by next Friday, June 15th.  Be sure to include at least one WMS image on your project to be eligible to be the randomly-selected participant who will win a WMS stamp set of choice!

Edited to add:  Congrats to VICKIE Z. for her Guest Mischief Maker win!  Yay!!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Back in the Saddle, Waltzingmouse Stamps
Paper:  October Afternoon's Sasparilla, My Mind's Eye, PTI Rustic Cream
Ink:  Stampin Up Not Quite Navy, Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress ink
Other:  Memory Box Woodrow Rosette die, A Muse Studio star dies, solid baker's twine from Olive Manna, mini library clip from Stampin Up, buttons

100th Sketch!

It's a celebration at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog today, as the 100th sketch is being posted!  That's 100 wonderful sketches from Claire, the Mischief Makers, and Design Team members alike!  Did you know that you can always access all of the past sketches in the gallery HERE?

This week, there are prizes to be had including a REALLY fun one that I'll tell you about at the end of this post!  But for now, here is SKETCH 100!

And my card...

I love me a Nordic Butterfly!  Today I paired it with the beautiful doily images from the Dainty Doilies-Large Set.  I am a bit obsessed with the papers from the "Summer Fresh Collection" by Simple Stories.  Love the patterns and colors, and thought that these images worked very well with them.  The sentiment is from the original Compact Sentiments, stamped in a frame cut with the Labels 25 Nestabilities.  The coordinating frame image is from French Country.

Now it's your turn to upload a creation HERE!  Be sure to include at least one Waltzingmouse Stamps image on your project.  This week, there are special prizes up for grabs.  First, if we have 50 players that enter, Claire will give away 1 free stamp set of choice to 2 randomly-selected players!  If 100 people enter, there will be 3 prizes given out, and so on!  (Wouldn't it be cool to have 150 players in one week?  Eek!)

Also the biggie...from all of the participants, one Guest Mischief Maker will be chosen!!!  This guest will play along with the Mischief Makers for the next 4 weeks and receive a special discount and blog badge!  I can't wait to see what you all come up with this week!  Happy 100th sketch!
