Watercolored Violets

The Queen for the Day Challenge created by Anne Ryan at Splitcoaststampers is such a fun one.  She chooses a member each week who participates in challenges BUT leaves comments regularly on everyone else's creations!  This week she chose Hobbydujour aka Sallie, an amazing stamper with a knack for making the most beautiful floral cards.  Check out Sallie's card that I cased!

I used PTI's Year of the Flower: Violets, then a sentiment from Year of the Flower:  Lily of the Valley.  I stamped the violets on watercolor paper with Stazon Black, then used Martha Stewart watercolor markers and a waterbrush to color them.  When the coloring was finished I ran the piece through my Cuttlebug using PTI's Linen Impression Plate.  After that, I distressed it with a sponge dauber and Tim Holtz's Antique Linen Distress ink.

So be sure to stop by and visit Sallie's gallery at Splitcoast!  Visit the link above.  When you click on her screen name, you can scroll down to "View Hobbydujour's gallery" and you will be in for an awesome tour through her virtual stamped garden!

Kelly, this is beautiful! I especially love the effect of running your paper through your Cuttlebug with the impression plate *after* completing the image--gives it a unique look!

Kelly, your watercolouring is perfect! Such a wonderful fusion of colours...just adore it....the texture in the background just adds that little tad of more interest. Thank you for your kind comments on my ruffled offering!
Kind regards. Joyce
