Waltzingmouse Stamps December Release Preview, Day 3

(Scroll down for a 12 Kits of Christmas Guest Post :))

Today Waltzingmouse Stamps is showcasing Ornate Ornaments, a new set that will be released this Saturday, December 1st!  Claire has created a third set in her series of ornaments that coordinates with the Heirloom Ornaments Nestabilities that Spellbinders has released the past 3 years.  This set is a bonus set!  It features ornaments with ALL 3 of the shapes!

I think this year's ornament is my favorite shape of all!  I decided to use the elegant Simple Stories "Generations" paper for my background.  I fussy cut flowers from the paper and popped them up with dimensionals.

The detail on these ornament images is a-ma-zing!  I love the sentiments in the set, too... a wonderful mix of elegant and fun ones!

TOMORROW is release day!  Stay tuned to Claire's blog HERE for new posts regarding contests and release times.  Join us here at 2:00 EST for the Design Team Blog Waltz.  Then next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday more DT members will be showcasing these new release sets!

Now it's time to visit...

12 Kits of Christmas Guest!

I was SO excited when the 12 Kits of Christmas ladies asked me to be a guest with them this month! Jeanne Jachna was the maker of the kit, and she happened to have an extra one that she sent to ME!  Did I ever hit the jackpot month to be the guest.  Jeanne sent out the most FABULOUS box of crafty things!  I have enough to make at least 20 more cards and tags!

I started with this lovely Tartan Plaid paper from Basic Grey's "Jovial" Collection and was immediately obsessed!  Ended up using it on each of my 3 cards!

Oh yes, and that VELVET ribbon!  That snuck up on another card today!  Loved this little Deer Trio die cut.  The stamped sentiments from Serendipity Stamps are amazing!  I loved how this turned into a more masculine card.  I always need one to give our nephew at Christmas.  He's a senior at the Rochester Institute of Technology so it's always money for him.  I would never even think of trying to pick out a gift LOL!

My next card featured my FIRST ever card with a seam binding bow!  Always been too scared to try, but then Melissa Phillips featured how she ties and glues hers on a Make It Monday video, and now I might be hooked!  This card was a bit difficult to photograph.  I did quite a bit of glittering up that little snowy sled image and it's hard to see.

I used a mix of Martha Stewart's Clear Coarse Glitter, Stickles, a Sakura glaze pen on the wooden part of the sled, and a Sakura Stardust pen for the parts that would be metal.

The last featured an amazing ornament die cut from Serendipity Stamps!  Jeanne included SO many wonderful little gems and embellishments.  I parted with a few for this one.  I had to force myself to take them out of their sweet little vellum envelopes.  Everything was so PRETTY just sitting there in the box!  I didn't feel like I should be allowed to touch it, hee!

There is a little blog candy up for grabs on the hop this month!  One commenter from one of the 12 Kits posts will be randomly-selected to receive the ornament stamp and die set from Serendipity Stamps.  So be sure to leave comments along the way!

Thanks SO much to Renee, Jeanne, and ALL of the ladies for letting me join in the fun this month!  I can't wait to see the projects created from Jeanne's Super-Sized kit :)   Here are the links...

Waltzingmouse Stamps December Release Preview, Day 2

We're back with another awesome preview for Waltzingmouse Stamps.  Claire will be releasing 4 new stamp sets this Saturday, December 1st!

Today is an adorable set after my own folk art heart...and it just happens to be called My Heart!  It coordinates perfectly with the Woodgrain Backgrounder set featured yesterday.  Claire also designed a sweet Woodenheart Alphabet set to include messages inside the hearts!

My first project uses the My Heart set combined with the large background image from the Woodgrain Backgrounder set.

Claire mentioned that these hearts were created with those "park trees" in mind.  You know the ones where people etch their initials to declare their love for one another?  Hee!  I tried to recreate the look by stamping the Woodgrain Backgrounder and cutting a heart shape with my craft knife out of the center.  I then ran some sandpaper all around the inside edges.

I wanted the heart to appear as if it was etched inside the wood.  I stamped and clear embossed two hearts and added a sentiment from the My Heart set.  The ink I used for the Woodgrain Backgrounder just happens to be called "Birch"!

I had to use another favorite heart from the set on a little Christmas tag.  A quick little design that will be perfect if I need to make more for last minute gifts...

I stamped two other hearts from the set and added a sentiment from Seasons of Love-Tags.  I die cut an ornament shape using Spellbinders 2011 Ornament Nestabilities and then added the little hanger image from Claire's coordinating 2011 Holiday Ornaments stamps set.

I'll be back tomorrow to feature a really gorgeous new set!  Now stop and see what heartfelt creations these DT members created for today!

Waltzingmouse Stamps December Release Preview, Day 1

Waltzingmouse Stamps is releasing FOUR awesome new stamp sets this Saturday, December 1st!  Claire has designed sets that can be used at Christmas time...and beyond!  I was so excited when they arrived at my mailbox :)

I made a card today featuring the fabulous new Woodgrain Backgrounder set.  Now this one is special!  Claire has not only included a full-sized woodgrain background in the set, but also some adorable woodgrain elements that coordinate!

Sooo realistic, isn't it?!  I paired the large Woodgrain Backgrounder with my favorite Santa silhouette from the previously-released Santa's Coming to Town.  That little leafy branch (LOVE) is from another new set that we will be featuring tomorrow...I just couldn't stop myself from using it on my Rustic Santa card.

See the little woodgrain pieces? Like that awesome hexagon (that coordinates with the new Spellbinders Hexagon Nestabilities)...and the sweet banner!  I stamped the "Ho Ho Ho" sentiment from Nutcracker Sweet in the center.

I will be back tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday featuring some more new sets, and then we will all join in for the traditional Release Day Blog Waltz on Saturday.  Some of the Design Team Members will also be featuring these new sets next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, as well.

Now it's time to go and see...

Skipping Stones Design Blog Hop!

Today there is a special blog hop at Skipping Stones Design to feature their newly-released stamp set Victorian Christmas!  It is such a lovely set with gorgeous details.  Today is also my last sketch as the November Guest Sketch Artist.  With Thanksgiving already over, I decided it would be high time for tags ...what better way to feature a new Christmas stamp set AND get ready for the holidays!

I decided to try my hand at two monochromatic tags...

The first uses the gorgeous Christmas tree from Victorian Christmas and a sentiment from Christmas Song.

I used some lovely paper from Authentique's "Festive" Collection.  The pretty trees and scrolls in the design made me think of the stamped image itself.  I had such a hard time with my own sketch!  Didn't know what to put in the right corner that wouldn't steal the show.  I decided a fussy cut sentiment would do the trick. This tree is so much fun to embellish!  I used a combination of red adhesive pearls, Ruby Red Liquid Pearls, and a red gem.

For my second card, I used a snowflake and sentiment from Victorian Christmas...

I used more Nordic print paper, this one from the "Christmas Wish" collection by My Mind's Eye. I could NOT add a little "doodad" in the corner on this one!  I just loved how clean and elegant it turned out and decided it best to leave it ALONE!

Thank you SO much to everyone at Skipping Stones Design for allowing me to be part of their team this month.  It's been a blast!

Now off you go to see what the Design Team Members and Guest Designers have made with this sketch and Victorian Christmas!

Supplies:
Tree tag:
Stamps:  Victorian Christmas, Christmas Song, both Skipping Stones Design
Paper:  Authentique "Festive," PTI Rustic Cream, tag
Ink:  Stampin Up Real Red
Other:  ribbon, red pearls and rhinestone, and Liquid Pearls in Ruby Red
Snowflake tag:
Stamps:  Victorian Christmas, Skipping Stones Design
Paper:  My Mind's Eye "Christmas Wish," PTI Rustic White, tag
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Other: ribbon, clear rhinestones

Nordic Deer Sketch

The sketch this week at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog is by the amazing Jean Martin!  I never tire of visiting her blog and seeing her lovely creations!  The sketch this week is no exception...

I chose to use the 2011 Holiday Ornaments stamp set paired with some new paper that I found on Black Friday :)

The paper is "Christmas Wish" by My Mind's Eye.  How could I pass it up knowing that I had lovely Nordic stamps to use at home?!  The sentiment is also from 2011 Holiday Ornaments.

Since I was at JoAnn's at 6:15 AM, I decided to add the Spellbinders Tear Drop Circles Nestabilities to my collection.  I thought they looked positively snowflake-y!  (I also scored my first little table Ott Lite at 80% off since I was there for the doorbusters.  It pays to have your birthday 2 weeks after Black Friday...no guilt in buying things for yourself.  Happy Birthday to ME!  LOL!!)

Upload your creation with Jean's sketch HERE by Friday, November 30th.  If you include at least one Waltzingmouse Stamps image on your project, you will be eligible to be the randomly-selected player who will win a WMS stamp set of choice!

REMINDER:  Sweet Cathy Weber has organized the second annual "Waltzingmouse Stamps Holiday Card Exchange!"  I participated last year and it was SO much fun to get some WMS happy mail.  Sign up in the forum HERE.  You have until Monday, December 3rd to add your name to the list!!

Supplies:
Stamps:  2011 Holiday Ornaments, Waltzingmouse Stamps
Paper:  My Mind's Eye "Christmas Wish" collection, PTI white
Ink:  Fresh Ink in Red Currant, Memento Tuxedo Black
Other:  Spellbinders Tear Drop Circles Nestabilities, A Muse Studio ribbon and black pearls

Papertrey Ink November Blog Hop

This month at Papertrey Ink, the blog hop theme was to be inspired by cover art from books and magazines!  I went straight to the children's section at Amazon.com to search for holiday books, and found this adorable Toot & Puddle book by Holly Hobbie.   (One of my favorite books of all time is Toot & Puddle's "I'll be Home for Christmas.")

Something about that big red bow and the layout got me!  Since PTI doesn't make any skiing piglet stamps, I decided to use Holiday Button Bits!

I stamped the snow using Polka Dot Basics.  I used VersaMark ink, then heat embossed it with white powder.  The sentiment is also from Holiday Button Bits.  The big red bow was made with Pure Poppy cardstock using the L'il Inker Designs Bow die (small).

This is one of my most used stamps of all time!  I stamped him in VersaMagic Gingerbead ink (of course!) and added some plaid paper buttons cut with the Buttoned Up #1 die.

I can't wait to see all of the entries today...this was SUCH a fun theme for a blog hop!
Thanks for stopping by :)

Supplies:
Stamps:  Holiday Button Bits & Polka Dot Basics, both Papertrey Ink
Paper:  PTI White, Pure Poppy, &  Simply Chartreuse cardstock, A Muse Studio Slate cardstock, Authentique "Festive" patterned paper

Skipping Stones Design Sketch #3

I have a new sketch posted at the Skipping Stones Design Blog.  My time as the November Guest Sketch Designer is FLYING by!  Well you know what they say...time flies when you are having FUN!

Here is the sketch for this week (don't tell the other sketches, but I think this is my favorite one)!

I used the wonderful Christmas Song stamp set for my card...

As if I wasn't obsessed enough with the music print birdie and leaves from Heartsong 2, NOW I have music print Christmas trees for my collection, yay!

There they are!  Stamped the trees first and then used my Cuttlebug Swiss Dot folder to emboss the whole piece to create a snowy wilderness kind of look.  The sentiment was cut out with a Spellbinders Ribbon Banner and placed in a Classic Scalloped Heart.

Join us next week for my last sketch of the month.  It will be featured in a very special way that you won't want to miss!  Thanks for stopping by today!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Christmas Song, Skipping Stones Design
Paper:  PTI Rustic Cream and Kraft, October Afternoon Holiday Style paper
Ink:  Memento Espresso Truffle, Fresh Ink in Tuscan Olive, Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress ink
Other:  Spellbinders "Classic Scalloped Hearts" and "Ribbon Banners" Nestabilities, D'Vine Swirls embossing folder, wooden buttons, red satin ribbon and twine

Waltzingmouse Stamps November Blog Party!

This month at Waltzingmouse Stamps the blog party theme is "gratitude." Add your creations to the Mr. Linky set on Claire's blog HERE.  You have until Sunday Nov. 18th at 1:30 PM.  Claire will be highlighting projects on her blog on November 20th.  She will also announce the randomly-selected participant who will win a WMS set of choice!

I chose to make a harvest lantern card!

Bright Season is back in stock at the store, as well as some other Christmas and recently released sets!  Check out Claire's blog post here and here for the full list.  It is such an awesome set!  I paired my lantern with papers from Simple Stories "Harvest Lane" Collection and a sentiment from Teeny Trees.

I have been so inspired by all of the "decorated" lanterns that I have seen everyone making!  I thought I would try one with some mini felt roses in rich autumn colors.  My felt is from an Etsy shop called "Benzie Bazaar."

Marlena left me a comment and she is right....these flowers must have popped in my head after seeing this week's Tuesday Trigger "Fantasy in Fall" at Moxie Fab World!  I love when subliminal stuff like this happens, LOL!

Since it's time to say thanks, I wanted to say thanks to all of YOU who visit my blog each week.  A few kind words about a card seem like such a small gesture...but I know how much they can make me smile when I am feeling blue or having "one of those days."  I am grateful for having a crafty hobby that lets my mind wander to a creative place...and for all of my crafty friends who know exactly what I am talking about :)!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Bright Season, Teeny Trees, both Waltzingmouse Stamps
Paper:  PTI Rustic Cream and Kraft cardstock, Simple Stories "Harvest Lane" papers
Ink:  Stampin Up Cherry Cobbler, Fresh Ink in Honey, A Muse Studio ink in Bellini, VersaFine Black, Memento Tuxedo Black, Tim Holtz Antique Linen and Tea Dye Distress inks
Other:  My Favorite Things Mini Rolled Rose Die-namics, felt from Benzie Bazaar (etsy.com), twine

Want to be Karin Sketch!

Amazing artist and Mischief Maker Karin Akesdotter is the creator of this week's unique sketch at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog!  It's SO cool...

I took her sketch even further...I tried to BE Karin!

At first I was a bit stumped.  Then I thought...what would Karin do?  Hmmm...maybe kraft paired with soft hues?  A sweet little scene made with Teeny Trees?  That sounded right to me!  I also used the new Vintage Christmas Backgrounder and sentiments from Very Vintage Christmas and Seasons of Love-Tags on my card.  The snowflake medallion is cut from vellum using the Memory Box Woodrow Rosette die.

I used the stamp kiss technique and stamped the snowflakes from Nordic Winter right on to the Teeny Trees stamp before pressing it on the paper.  The mini snowflakes floating in the background are from Very Vintage Christmas.

Upload your creation with Karin's sketch HERE by next Friday, November 23.  You may use any stamps, but if you include at least one Waltzingmouse Stamps image on your project, you will be eligible to be the randomly-selected player who will win a WMS stamp set of choice!

REMINDER:  See you back here today at 1:30 PM EST for the Waltzingmouse Stamps November Blog Party!  The theme this month is Gratitude.  You will have 24 hours to link up your project to the Mr. Linky set on Claire's blog.  She will highlight some special projects on November 20, as well as announce another randomly-selected player who will win a WMS stamp set of choice.

Skipping Stones Design Sketch #2

I am the Guest Sketch Artist for November at Skipping Stones Design, and a new sketch has been posted today!  Visit HERE to see the wonderful samples made by the other guest designers and the Design Team Members.

My sketch for the week...

I thought it was high time to get out those patterned paper scraps and use them up :)  I chose the adorable Skipping Stones Design stamp set Heartsong 2 to feature on my card...

I also used sweet papers from Simple Stories "Harvest Lane".  The middle stripe is more of that linen washi tape that I love, and I tied on a tag with a sentiment from the set.  Can't get enough of those teeny musical note leaves to match the birdie, so included just a peek along the bottom of my tag.

Chirp!!  I am having so much fun already...until next Tuesday!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Heartsong 2 from Skipping Stones Design
Paper:  Simple Stories "Harvest Lane" Collection, PTI Rustic Cream and Kraft cardstock
Ink:  Stampin Up Cherry Cobbler, Memento Espresso Truffle, Fresh Ink in Birch
Other:  Spellbinders Lacey Circles Nestabilities, natural linen washi tape from wishywashi.com, Tiny Tags die from Papertrey Ink, button, twine, thin linen ribbon

Star Angel Sketch

This week's sketch at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog is by the lovely Lenet Mos!  I just love this sketch SO much!

Here is my card...

Earth Angel flew out of my stamp set box again!  Also used two of the new release stamp sets,  Cabin Plaid Backgrounder and a sentiment from Yonder Star.

The denim and floral  papers are from Crate Paper's "Random" Collection.  I made a little pennant by folding up some linen washi tape...it's much easier to pleat than ribbon since it's sticky!

Your turn to play along!  We had a wonderful turn out last week, let's keep it going and going!  Upload your creation HERE by next Friday, November 16th.  If you include at least one Waltzingmouse Stamps image on your project, you will be eligible to be the randomly-selected player who will win a WMS stamp set of choice.

Don't forget...the blog party featuring the theme "Gratitude" is next Saturday November 17th!   All of the details are on Claire's blog HERE!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Earth Angel, Yonder Star, Cabin Plaid Backgrounder, all Waltzingmouse Stamps
Paper:  Crate Paper "Random" Collection, PTI Rustic White, Scarlet Jewel, and Kraft cardstock
Ink:  Fresh Ink in Harvest and Navy, Memento Espresso Truffle and Olive Grove, PTI Fresh Snow

Up first is a circular card.  I love these but always seem to forget to make them!

I used two beautiful Skipping Stones Design stamp sets for this card...the butterfly and sentiment from Breathtaking Butterflies and a little branch (with a teeny sheet music print!) from Heartsong 2!  Added embellishments to blend with the fun pattern that was already on the paper.  It's from the "Fabulous" Collection by Simple Stories.

Breathtaking for SURE!

Thanks so much to everyone at Skipping Stones Design for this wonderful invitation!  I look forward to meeting new friends and seeing beautiful cards all month :)!  Until next Tuesday!

Stamps:  Breathtaking Butterflies & Heartsong 2, both sets from Skipping Stones Design

Candy Wagon Sketch

A new sketch by one of the Mischief Makers is posted at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog...and it's by one of the sweetest papercrafters in the world - Renee Lynch!

Since we are talking sweet, I had to use the adorable new release set Candy Wagon for my card...

I worked near Rochester yesterday morning and had a little time to stop at JoAnn's on my way home...I had a coupon that was going to go to waste if I didn't!  I was thinking about Belinda's multi-colored Candy Wagon card from the release day blog waltz and decided to use mine on some Tim Holtz Distress Markers!  I chose the 5-pack that had Vintage Photo, Worn Lipstick, Tumbled Glass, Crushed Olive, and Wild Honey.  So much FUN!  Must save my coupons for more.  The sentiment is from the older WMS set Sweethearts.

I stamped 2 awnings and layered one over the other, then added a striped bow cut with the L'il Inker Designs Bow Die-Small.  Thought this was appropriate since it's all Renee's fault that I had to order it :)!  The papers are from My Mind's Eye Sweet Caroline "Howdy Doody" Collection.

Upload your creation HERE by Friday, November 9th.  If you include at least one Waltzingmouse Stamps image, you will be eligible to be the randomly-selected player who will win a WMS stamp set of choice!  Remember...another way to win is to leave a comment on all of the DT members' Release Day Blog Waltz posts...Lynn will select a random winner for a free WMS set.  You have until tomorrow morning (Monday, November 5th) at 6:59 AM EST to leave comments.

More fun news...the monthly blog party will take place on Saturday, November 17th.  The theme is Gratitude and all of the details can be found on Claire's blog HERE.

Thanks again SO much for stopping by and leaving such wonderful comments this week!  It is truly appreciated!

Waltzingmouse Stamps November Release Day Blog Waltz!

The big day is here, new release day at Waltzingmouse Stamps!  You should be arriving here from Clare Buswell's blog, but you can always go back to Claire Brennan's blog if you get lost.

The EIGHT new stamps sets that are available for purchase are:  Yonder Star, Compliments of the Season 2, Sheriff, Half Pint Heroes Additions...and 3 awesome full-size acrylic backgrounds...Cabin Plaid, Yonder Star Background, and Vintage Christmas Background!

What's that?  One is missing from the list?  That's because we are featuring it today!  An absolutely delightful and SWEET set called Candy Wagon!!

I made a little card and treat bag ensemble.  When I worked at a preschool, I used to LOVE Secret Santa time of year!  My friends had me figured out, though.  I had just started stamping then and always created my own little treat tags and cards...so I got figured out pretty quickly :).  Did I mention that this is my favorite Christmas color combination in the whole world?  Red, kraft, and cream!

I found these super sweet mini kraft bags with tag inserts at Hobby Lobby and hoarded them until just the right time...and Candy Wagon debut day was IT!  I heat embossed a sentiment from the set with white powder and created a bag full of candy using images from the previously-released set, Candy Jar-Christmas Fillers!  The warm brown plaid was stamped with the new Cabin Plaid background.  This card has a little secret...

Going UP!

I stamped the little tag with more sentiments from Candy Wagon.  The little lasso image from the Opera Tags stamp set (and coordinating Nestabilities by Claire) worked perfectly with this Western theme!  This little card is the perfect size to clip a gift card to the back.

I embossed another little kraft bag and filled it with these vintage candies that I found in the bulk section of Wegmans.  Too bad Halloween was a few days ago...I only allowed myself about 1/8 of a pound of these...enough to fill my mini bag :)!  I stamped another sentiment from the set (there are SO many cute ones!!) and also the mini candies from Candy Jar Christmas.  I closed the bag with a bit of linen washi tape and a button!

Don't forget that Claire is having a contest!  Leave a comment on each DT members' blog to increase your chances to win.  We will each randomly draw a blog commenter's name and submit it to Lynn.  She will then put them all in a hat and draw the winner of a WMS stamp set of choice!  You have until November 5th at 6:59 AM EST to leave your comments.  The winner will be announced November 6th on Claire's blog.

Almost forgot some MORE awesome news!  Claire is running a shipping from the USA trial!  Typically sets are shipped from her home in Northern Ireland, but she is starting to ship from the USA while supplies last.  See more about it on her blog HERE...

Thanks so much for stopping by all week!
Now off you go to see something REALLY sweet at Lynn's Blog!
