This week's Make it Monday at Papertrey Ink was by Betsy. She inspired us to use watercolors with a stencil. I cut a piece of cardstock with my Hexagon Cover Plate and used that as a stencil...
I used shades of yellow and orange to paint. My hexagon stencil was cut from Scarlet Jewel cardstock, and it ended up reacting with the watercolors a bit, leaving some dark color along the edges. Added a few clear sequins, and embossed the sentiment with black and diamond embossing powder so it sparkles a bit, too. The sunshine is made with a medallion from Memory Box. This card is kind of small for me, a 3x5 :). Such a fun technique!

Such a pretty card Kelly! Love the stenciled background and fancy 3D sunshine! Great take on the MIM challenge!
I love your background Kelly! The colors including what came from the stencil you made are just SO pretty, and your CAS sun(flower) is the perfect addition to this bright and beautiful card! Love it!! :0)
Kelly, read your process, and have to say, love happy 'accidents'! The reaction of color with card stock and water colors gave your honeycomb the sweetest edging. Beautiful card!
Love your card! Your watercolor background compliments your focal point perfectly!
What a pretty card and you were lucky with your stencil accident! It really turned out great!
Congrats on your win, Kelly! Your homemade stencil worked out well, including the hint of Scarlet Jewel. Pretty Medallion finished it beautifully.
