Wonderful Camellia Sketch

Could not let the stamping fun stop yet!  Had to play along with DT member Mona Pendleton's sketch this week at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog!

That flower made me think of the new Camellia set.

NOTE on Saturday, August 25th:  Claire is experiencing some difficulties with her manufacturer getting product to her as promised.  She is working very hard to make sure that these new release sets arrive at her store SOON!  Please stay tuned to her blog HERE for all of the latest news.

I tend not to buy many pink papers, but I discovered this My Mind's Eye Lost and Found "Blush" paper and loved the elegant feel.  I think this is starting to mean that I have one too many 6x6 pads (now really, could that even be possible? They really don't take up that much space :))

I stamped the Camellia in Fuchsia ink, cut out various different sections, and then layered them 4 times on dimensionals.  Traced the little shaded areas with a Sakura Stardust glitter pen.

Can't wait to see your creations with this pretty posie of a sketch!  Upload your creation HERE by next Friday, August 31st (I refuse to admit summer is over, just say it ain't SO)!!  Be sure to include at least one Waltzingmouse Stamps image on your project to be eligible to be the randomly-selected player who will win a WMS stamp set of choice!

Waltzingmouse Stamps August Release Day Blog Waltz

It's here!  Waltzingmouse Stamps is releasing 9 new stamp sets today.  See the sets in full and find out all of the latest information HERE on Claire's blog.

The Design Team is having a blog waltz today to feature a few more projects with the stamp sets.  You should be arriving here from Clare Buswell's blog, but you can always go back to Claire Brennan's blog if you have lost your way.

I made two projects today.  The first features the sets Vintage Garden Seed Packet and Vintage Garden Flowers.

I bought one of those plain little wooden boxes from AC Moore and decided to try my hand at decoupage.  I covered it with this beautiful rust gingham paper from Graphic 45 and then sanded and painted the edges with folk art paint.

I stamped the seed packet in Tim Holtz Rusty Hinge Distress ink and the chrysanthemum from Vintage Garden Flowers (LOVE this image) in A Muse Studio's Heather ink.  I cut out the packet, and painted over it with Tim Holtz Rock Candy Crackle Paint.  My final step was to glue it to the basket and cover the whole front using Modge Podge.  I never thought I would like the colors rust and lavender together...but I do!

My second project features the sets Little Lanterns and Light of the World Sentiments (on the inside).

I found the Authentique "Glory" paper while on vacation in New Jersey and fell in love with it!

I thought it went perfect with one of the Little Lanterns embossed in copper and the star swag image from Bitty Banners!

On the inside I stamped a sentiment from Light of the World Sentiments, and added a little glow image from Bright Season and a star from Bitty Banners.

I have had so much fun using all of these new products and can't wait until I see all of YOUR projects popping up in blog land!  Don't forget that there is a prize involved on the hop today!  Each of the DT members will choose one random commenter from their blogs and submit the names to Lynn.  She will then put them all in a hat and pick one name out...that person will win a WMS stamp set of choice!  So the more comments you leave, the better your chances to win, yay!

Until next time....now off you go to LYNN'S BLOG!

Waltzingmouse Stamps August Release Previews, Day 3

Tomorrow is the big day!  Claire will be releasing 9 new stamp sets at Waltzingmouse Stamps!  Be sure to visit her blog HERE for all of the latest information.  The last 3 sets being revealed today are, Bright Season, Light of the World Sentiments, and Little Lanterns!

First up is Little Lanterns paired with Light of the World Sentiments.  This sentiment  is such a beautiful one for a person that needs some encouragement.  Claire thought of such a lovely and creative way to say "I'm thinking of you."  I decided to challenge myself and make a clean and simple card.   Of course, it took me just as long as a fancier one!

I used a circle Nestie as a stencil to make a little glowing spot for the lantern.  When I did this card in the first round (yes, there were 2 attempts!), I just tried to use the inner portion of the nestie for the shading, but I ended up getting some ink on the outside of the circle by mistake.  I actually liked the little halo it created, so I did the card over again, and shaded all the way around the outside, too.

I used A Muse Studio Lemon Whip ink which is such a lovely soft yellow.  You may be able to see it a little bit better in this photo...the candle has a little orange twinkling rhinestone (whoa, my only embellishment!).

Bright Season is another set that is right up my folk art alley :)!  I could not wait to break out the new Christmas papers that I have been starting to collect.  These are from the "Festive" collection by Authentique.  Used some previously released sets on this card, too-Musical Backgrounds, the fun circle image from Nutcracker Sweet, and a sentiment from Compliments of the Season.

There are so many sweet images packed in this little set...candles, flames, leaves, berries, and a big lantern.  Claire thinks of everything!

I chose to make a taper candle.  Stamped the holly leaves and added the berries with dimensionals.  I love the little candle glow images included in the set, too  (Note...I have to say it because it's bugging me.  That little red smudgy looking area by the candle base?  That is really part of the patterned paper.  I didn't smear ink, promise, heeee!  Okay, I feel better now!)

Don't forget that tomorrow is release day!
The Design Team will be posting some more projects at 2:00 PM EST for the Release Day Blog Waltz and Claire will be revealing the sets on her blog.

Be sure to visit today, though, to see their fabulous samples with these new sets!

Waltzingmouse Stamps August Release Previews, Day 2

Today we are previewing two of the nine new stamp sets to be released this Friday, August 24th...AND there is even more fabulous news!  Claire is releasing her first set of dies and coordinating images...and the dies are manufactured by SPELLBINDERS, yippee!  To find out all of the details for this release, go to Claire's blog HERE (not to mention she has begun to share samples and they are be-aut-ti-ful)!!

The first set is called Opera Tags and it's creative, and fancy, and fabulous!  The coordinating Nestabilities are amazing!  I decided to make a Halloween card with one of the tags...

Paired the tag image from Opera Tags (it cuts like a DREAM with the new Nesties!) with a sentiment and bats from the previously-released set Midnight Feast.  The spooky witch and spider are from Halloween Party.  Added some sparkly orange tulle and some potion bubbles to the mix.

The next set today is a most beautiful floral one called Camellia.

Not only do you get a gorgeous array of Camellias, but there are lovely sentiments a plenty in this set, too.  I love this paper from Simple Stories called "Fabulous" and colored my Camellia to match the sweet flowers.

The flower is so dreamy to layer up!  I stamped it 3 times and used dimensionals when I paper-pieced it back together.

I can't wait to hop around and see what these DT members are featuring today!  Before I go, I wanted to say thanks to you all for always leaving me such lovely comments when you stop by!

Waltzingmouse Stamps August Release Previews, Day 1

I am SO excited to help debut Claire's new products this month at Waltzingmouse Stamps!  I know that I always say this, but she has really really outdone herself this time!  She will be releasing 9 new stamp sets this month and some other special things!  Release day is set for this Friday August 24th, but stay tuned to her blog HERE for further information.

Today's sets are must-haves for anybody with a love for vintage things...Vintage Seed Packet, Vintage Garden Appleblossom Seeds, Vintage Garden Flowers, and Vintage Garden Produce!

Up first is a little muslin bag made with images from the Vintage Seed Packet and also Vintage Garden Appleblossom Seeds, which is a single image.

I stamped the Chicken Wire background onto the bag with Memento Espresso Truffle Ink.  Then I wrapped the bag with this wonderful linen washi tape (so easy, no sew :)) and added some buttons.

Aren't the images so GORGEOUS?!  I found that you can fancy them up with Copics or just stamp them in pretty colors...it doesn't matter!  They are stunning any way that you choose.  For this image, I stamped in Memento Olive Grove ink first, then added some color with Copics.  I cut it out with the Rectangles Small Nestabilities.  Note:  If you are ordering this set, I highly recommend getting some Antique Linen Distress ink.  You will NOT be able to keep your hands off of it, hee!

Don't forget the little taggie at the top!  Claire has the Vintage Seed Packet set jam-packed with images.  I used the set for all 3 of my projects today, and still haven't used them all yet!

Up next are some more images from Vintage Seed Packet.  There is a slight chill in the air in the evenings lately, and it makes me want to take out some of those warm fall colors and patterns.

I went a little shabby with this one...I just love that pumpkin image!  Also used some of the new twine that Claire has in the shop.
Another sidebar:  Claire used a teeny tiny dew drop on her blog party card last weekend.  I think she will single-handedly make them all the rage again!  I was sitting at my computer thinking "I HAVE THOSE!", giggle... and decided to add a few to my project!  The pretty papers are from My Mind's Eye and Simple Stories.

When I first got these sets, I sat down and stamped them in all different colors to experiment with my Copics.   When I used Memento Paris Dusk ink on these strawberries from Vintage Garden Produce, I immediately thought of toile and pretty old-fashioned prints!  So I decided to try my hand at a botanical background...

That sentiment is such a cheerful one for a get well card, I sooo love it!  It is included in the Vintage Seed Packet set.  I stamped a pretty vine from Ovals-Classic Frames around it and kept the overall card clean and simple.  (PS...Oh how I tried to keep away from a red, white, and blue color scheme...but this one snuck up on me-the card so NEEDED that red gingham ribbon :)

See?  I warned you that Claire has knocked this release out of the park...and there is so much more in store for you this week!  Don't forget to stop by these DT members' blogs today for more vintage garden loveliness!

Hit the Beach Sketch

This week the sketch at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog is by one of my fave layout-makers...DT member, Laurie Schmidlin!  I am always in awe of how she incorporates such cool elements into her cards so seamlessly!

I really wanted to use My Island this week because that's where I am headed today!  We are probably driving to New Jersey as you read this blog post.  Off to visit my sister and her family for a week, yippee!  There may not be any palm trees on Long Beach Island, but at least there is sand and surf :)

I turned Laurie's sketch so I could make the vertical panels fit.

The blue chevron paper is from My Mind's Eye "Vanity Fair" and the orange dots from Lily Bee's Double Dutch collection.

Stamped the little beach hut, sky, sand dune, palm tree, and sentiment in light colors, cut them out with the Rectangles Small Nesties set, and inked the edges with Antique Linen Distress ink.  See that teeny blue button?  I noticed that it had text on it after I glued it down.  Guess what it says?  B.U.M., hee!  Perfect for the beach bum that I am going to turn into this week!

Upload your creation HERE by next Friday, August 17th.  Be sure to include at least one Waltzingmouse Stamps image on your project to be eligible to be the randomly-selected player who will win a WMS set of choice!

DON'T FORGET!!  The Waltzingmouse Blog Party is next Friday the 17th too!  The theme this month is birthdays.  Find more details about the party HERE!

Happy Day Sketch

Another sketch inspired by a Design Team member at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog this week! Up next is the fabulous Bonnie Sharp!

I took some "liberties" with Bonnie's sketch because I got a new 6x6 patterned paper pack last weekend, the "Happy Day" collection from Simple Stories!  Could not pass up using those banners as part of the sketch!

Half Pint Heroines turned into my "circle" on the sketch!  (Balloons are circle-ish, right?!)  The paper already had some flourishes printed on it in chocolate brown and golden yellow, so added some of my own with the Flourishes-Scallops and Dots set!

A bit of coloring with some Copics, a smidge of twine, and lovely krafty pearls...

A sentiment combination from Half Pint Heroes and Half Pint Heroines fit right inside the label that was already printed on the paper.  Added the dotted heart from Jar Fillers-Jam Packed and one banner from Bitty Banners.  That button is actually cardstock cut with a die.  I dabbed some Frayed Burlap distress ink on with a sponge dauber (very lightly), and it took on a "wooden" look!  I am always looking for those, so I will definitely use this trick again!

Upload your creation with this sketch HERE by next Friday, August 10th.  Be sure to include at least 1 Waltzingmouse Stamps image on your project to be eligible to be the randomly-selected player who will win a WMS stamp set of choice!
