Waltzingmouse Stamps June Blog Party!

Even though it's Father's Day here in the USA, it's also a lovely day for a blog party with Waltzingmouse Stamps :)  While my husband was out mowing the lawn (ha!), I snuck away to finish my card.  Edited to add:  I did not ASK him to mow the lawn.  Sometimes I think he actually likes to hop on the mower with his headphones and take a break from the 2 daughters, 1 wife, and 1 girl dog that chatter/bark all day long :)

This month instead of a theme, Lynn chose this lovely inspiration photo!

The color scheme and the distressed furniture really caught my attention.  It seems that June has turned into Western-inspired Month here at my blog, so I made my own version of distressed wood...

Ran some Hawaiian Shores cardstock through my cuttlebug with the Woodgrain Impression Plate from Papertrey Ink.  I then brushed some Picket Fence Crackle Paint over it with a square sponge brush.  Stamped the sentiment from Back in the Saddle then used the Canvas/Linen Impression plate over that.  I framed it with an image with Very Vintage Labels No. 1. then tucked it behind the wood panel which I cut with the coordinating Labels One Nestabilities.

The flowers are from Big Blooms: Poinsettias!  Anya made a card with this set recently and it reminded me about all of the cute images that could masquerade as other flowers during the year.  Come to think of it, while I made this card I was thinking about Anya's clean and simple style a lot!  Maybe I should check her archives because I kind of feel like she made something like this before, hee!

Remember that you have 24 hours to upload your creation to the Mr. Linky set on Claire's blog.  Be sure to check back on June 20th where Claire will be featuring some special projects from the party, as well as announcing the winner of the random-participant who won a WMS stamp set of choice!

Supplies:
Stamps:  Back in the Saddle, Very Vintage Labels No. 1, Big Blooms-Poinsettia, all Waltzingmouse Stamps
Paper:  PTI Hawaiian Shores, Kraft, and White
Ink:  Fresh Ink Pool and Harvest, Memento Espresso Truffle, VersaMagic Red Brick Ink, PTI Fresh Snow (along edges)
Other:  Woodgrain Impression Plate and Canvas/Linen Impression Plate both from Papertrey Ink, Tim Holtz Crackle Paint in Picket Fence, Spellbinders Labels One Nestabilities, twine, buttons

My hubby has been on the couch all day too - between the race and golf, I can't get a word in edgewise! On the other hand, I get to stamp - yay!! and I LOVE your woodgrain panelling and your take on the inspiration challenge - those flowers are a great punch of colour!

Love the distressed look, fabulous job. I just read this great book called "Sisters on the Fly" all aobut women camping in their vintage cowgirl campers... I'm sure that'd be a treasure of inspiration for your cowboy themed month.

Fabulous, Kelly--I love how the sentiment looks with the bold colors and distressed background! And the twine and cool buttons make fantastic accents. It's golf at our house! Hubby watched it yesterday into the evening and probably will today too!

I used those poinsettias, too! And my DH was out mowing the lawn while I was making my card, too! How funny is that? I love the button centers you used, and the whitewashed background, Kelly. Very cheery!

Love this card Kelly! I just ordered Back In the Saddle so I was happy to see your sweet card used with flowers. Its funny how we sneak off to make a card when we know our husbands have something of their own to do.
