Papertrey Ink Christmas Leftovers Hop

Time for the annual "Christmas leftovers" hop with Papertrey Ink!  The challenge was to find leftover items from the holiday, whether pieces of wrapping paper, cards, envelopes, ribbons, gift bags, etc. and make something new with them!

Even though I tend to get photo cards from most of my friends each Christmas, I still get some lovely "store-bought" cards, too...many of them are spectacularly flocked, or glittered, or embossed!

This morning (not feeling as guilty since Christmas is over), I went at them with my scissors (yikes!)...

I didn't know what to do with them until today.  I took out some dies, mainly the ones from the Love Lives Here:Holiday set and cut some trees, stockings, and mittens!

Poor Santa!!
His glittery white beard was too good to pass up...

I came to a sad realization yesterday.  I could spend an hour making a gift tag, but for the most part...it's going to get swept away with the wrapping paper!  Birthday tags, or ones for other special days during the year, may stand a chance.  But not the Christmas ones!  My New Year's resolution is to make simple Christmas tags for next year. On this one I used the Love Lives Here: Holiday tree (cut from Santa's beard above), Tag Sale #5, and a sentiment from Merry Little Christmas.  The patterned paper is by Jillibean Soup.

On this one, the sweet embossed holly is from a Precious Moments card that I received.  Used the same dies and stamp set, and some October Afternoon Holiday Style patterned paper.  I also had enough to cut a mitten and stocking with the same pattern!

Can't wait to see all of the recycled projects tonight!  I have been sneaking peeks throughout the day, but there were toys to be played with and fights from cranky (overwhelmed) children to break up!  Thanks for stopping by!

I LOVE both of the tags and you could always save them year to year and recycle them!

Both of these tags are beautiful! It does break your heart when they are swept away. In our house the tag and bow get set aside when opening gifts from our family and then get striped of tape and pt into manila envelopes for next year. It is actually fun getting the tags out again for the wrapping table.

These tags are wonderful. I think simple can be special, as you have proven. I especially love what you did with Santa's beard.

I quickly and quietly snatch the tags that I make from the pile of debris following the unwrapping frenzy at our house! My family loves to see the combination of pre-used and new tags each year! These are both so pretty! Hope you can follow through with your resolution! :-)

Great idea! I always save cards that have nice elements, but I've never made tags from them. I think I'll try to get a few done for next year before I put everything away. Love yours.

Beautiful tags--and a great head-start for next year, too!

Fabulous tags and I had the best response from the tags I made out of photos of my children (just die cut the photo and presto!) and those caused the relatives to stop and swoon.

They're fabulous!
I love them both...
and it's so true...
we spend so much time making tags and they just wind up getting tossed out! :(
I was guilty of doing it myself...
so I'm resolving the same for next year...
simple!

Wow, what great tags! The dies work great with the ard parts you used. I think I could safely promise that any tags you sent to ME would not get swept into the trash!

Great tags - love your use of scraps!

Lovely tags. Sadly I agree with you about the tags being tossed out with the wrapping paper. I think most people throw out the cards too. So I'm hoping to do more scrapping in the new year. At least the LO's go into an album and we have precious memories to treasure.
