Melissa Phillips, Design Team Member for Papertrey Ink, as well as one of the sweetest bloggers ever known, is hosting an Inspiration Challenge! It is called "Color Me Cozy". We were to be inspired by a photo from The Creative Mint. Scroll down to the second photo.
I was inspired by the soft sweet cream colors, the buttons, and the red and white baker's twine! I used the bear and sentiment from Papertrey Ink's new Baby Button Bits. The x panel is made using PTI's Background Basics: Retro. The bear was stamped over a retired plaid background from SU. The base of the card is the retired Linen Background stamp from Stampin Up with the retired Ticking Stripe Backgrounder from Cornish Heritage Farms over the top. The baker's twine is Martha Stewart and the buttons are vintage.
If you have never read Melissa's blog, you MUST stop in whenever you can. Papercrafter or not you will be inspired by her beautiful creations and even sweeter words!

Olympic Virtual Stamp Night!
It's a "Virtual Stamp Night" mini over at SCS! This time, the theme is the Olympics. The main VSN will be in February just in time for the Vancouver Games, and I will be a hostess then. You can be sure my challenge will have something to do with figure skating (wink)...
This is a card I made for one of the other challenges from tonight. It was called "Chill Out". The challenge was to make a card using "snow" aka white Flower Soft, or "ice" aka clear or white embossing powder. I stamped the Geometric Pattern 2 Backgrounder from Cornish Heritage Farms in Versamark ink, then heat-embossed with Ranger's White Puff Embossing powder on Papertrey Ink's Ocean Tides cardstock. I also embossed the sweet rattle from PTI's new set, Baby Button Bits!
You can still play the VSN mini challenges today. Then join everyone on Friday evening Feb 26th, and all day (and evening) Saturday Feb 27th for more Olympic Challenge fun, every hour on the hour! My challenge will be posted on Feb 26th at 6:00 PM!

Something sweet...
I am a little obessed with something sweet right now...and it has NO calories...that's right! Lucky for me I can stamp this cupcake from Papertrey Ink's "Baby Button Bits" set and not gain an inch to pinch...
Some "Clean and Simple" cards for you, with lots of paper-piecing. It's like playing with paper dolls for grown-ups, hee! For the pink one, the "icing" is stamped with my retired Stampin Up Linen Background, and the liner is Sweet Blush cardstock from PTI. For the blue one, I used Spring Rain cardstock from PTI, my Linen Background again, and added a zigzag stitch stamp from The Angel Company.
This card features paper from an awesome new stack by DCWV called "The Crafty Stack"...it is all sewing- themed paper and it has a linen texture, yay!
Hope that you have a day full of sweet things...Happy Friday!

Pink Persimmon's Bakery Box Bonanza!
The trick was to cut a hole out of the top of the box, place a clear cylinder inside (a cut pepsi bottle...a great idea from my husband Jason!), and then hide a "Happy Birthday" message inside.
Be sure to visit Pink Persimmon's Blog to see all of the awesome Bakery Box projects this week for some sweet gift-giving inspiration!

Word of the Week Challenge, #19
Oh it has been busy here...and I forgot my WOW last week...again! I could use some WOW in my life right about now! But I do know just the thing to take care of the winter blues...today's WOW plus an extra sweet surprise...
confection:
1. the act or process of "confecting" which means: to put together from varied material or to "prepare" or "preserve" 2. something "confected" such as a) a fancy dish or sweetmeat; delicacy, esp. a fruit or nut preserve b) a medicinal preparation usu. made with sugar, syrup, or honey c) a piece of fine craftmanship
My sample is made with the Tea and Cake set from Pink Persimmon, with sentiment from the Ric Rac Circle set. Used Papertrey Ink cardstocks in Lemon Tart, Sweet Blush, and white. Added Cotton Candy Stickles to the cupcakes, and colored the tray with a Stardust glitter pen by Sakura for extra sparkle! The layout is today's Sketch Challenge (SC264) at Splitcoaststampers hosted by "SewManyCards" this week!
So it's a delicious word of the week, right?! Upload your own card featuring "confection" to Splitcoaststampers using the keyword WOW19, or link your blog back here in the comments section of this post!
And SPEAKING of delicious confections...you must stop over to Pink Persimmon's Blog for their Bakery Box Bonanza! The Creative Team was asked to use their Pink Bakery Boxes to make a fun project for February, and they are being featured all week on the blog! Kristie and Linda have wowed us with some yummy designs, and the rest of team will be featured this week....including me!
Oh, and what could make eating a confection even better?...why that would be SHOPPING while eating that confection! Some Pink Persimmon sets are on sale and listed HERE...so grab some sweet inspiration, and a sweet DEAL while you are there!

Just Ducky sketch!
This card is for the Card Positioning Systems Blog sketch challenge. This week, the sponsor is October Afternoon.
Not only does October Afternoon make awesome decorative paper, I LOVE the coordinating stamp sets! This little duck is from the "Ducks in a Row" line. Used Cosmo Cricket paper, Papertrey Ink cardstocks in Lemon Tart and Spring Rain, and some twine. The sentiment is from PTI's Mixed Messages set.

Dotty Scottie...in RED!
This card was made for the Featured Stamper of the week at Splitcoaststampers...jdmommy aka Anne!
I chose to make a card based on the one seen in this link:
Anne's Penguin Presents card
I kept Anne's overall layout, but instead of a penguin, I used Scottie Dog from Pink Persimmon.
Anne is the self-proclaimed "Queen of Red" at Splitcoast, and I am the self-proclaimed "Queen of Gingham" (we take our titles SERIOUSLY there!!)...so I added red cardstock stamped with Papertrey Ink's Polka Dot Basics for her, and a big gingham bow for me! Anne had graduated paper-piercings on her card, so I changed my sentiment from Papertrey Ink's Everyday Button Bits to match, then added my little paper-pierced path for Scottie Dog to follow along the bottom of the card.
Big CONGRATULATIONS to Anne on her special day. I have called her...I mean SANTA has called her...naughty on a few occasions, but I still love her anyway!

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge Time!
Dawn McVey is hosting another Raspberry Suite Color Challenge this week! The Papertrey Ink papers are Aqua Mist, Lemon Tart, Dark Chocolate, and Vintage Cream. I used these to make a baby card for Eva's teacher when she returns to school. She had a baby boy in November!
I used Papertrey Ink's Polka Dot Basics stamped in Versamark on Aqua Mist, the sentiments from Mixed Messages, and the sweet bird outline from Everyday Button Bits with a Lemon Tart button and chocolate brad for the eye. Who could resist a button bird, WHO?! Thanks for stopping by!

Word of the Week #18
I just realized that there was a WOW hiatus! Talk about completely being out of the little life schedule over Christmas break! So here is WOW18, a little late...or is it right on time?
kolo: a central European folk dance in which dancers form a circle and progress slowly to right or left while one or more dancers perform elaborate steps in the center of the circle
Hmm, kind of sounds like a sketchy little challenge, too! This WOW is just perfect for today, as it sounds like everyone in the USA needs to keep their feet moving in this cold weather to prevent frostbite! Upload your card using kolo as inspiration to Splitcoast using the keyword WOW18, or link your sample back to the comments section of this post!
