Ugliest Card Ever Blog Hop

This isn't an April Fool.  Well, okay, it kind of is because Suzanne Dahlberg is hosting this special hop today from her blog FOR April's Day.  But when I made these cards?  THAT is the part that isn't an April Fool's Day joke.  I thought they were pretty.  So cool, in fact, that I posted them for challenges at Splitcoaststampers!  These go back...WAY back before I ever started my blog.

I found 3 that had to be shown today.  I'll start off with my #1 ugliest...and 2 honorable mentions if you manage to stick with me that long!

First up is...the winner.  The ugliest card ever (everyone has one)....

This was entitled Weathered Flower Thank You card and it was posted at Splitcoast on February 8, 2008. It had 349 views and 0 comments, LOL!  Here is what I wrote about it in my description:

"Jury is still out on this one...I think I beat up on it a little too much!! Used to have a stipple plaid background but it kind of disappeared with all of my inking and smudging. In the end, I still like the colors."

I liked the colors?  Really?  WHAT colors?  I think I created this when I had just discovered Tim Holtz Distress inks and apparently I wanted to use the 3 brown colors I purchased all at ONCE!

Now for the honorable mentions...for their poor design and garish colors....

This one was entitled "Plaid-Kissed, Rosy Apples."  When I dug into my SCS gallery to find this treasure, my eye immediately went to the sentiment.  "Just a little something"...hmmm.  What did I write on the inside?  "....that looks like it's bleeding?"   The Aged Mahogany Distress Ink sponging around the sentiment is VERY unfortunate.

Fabulous, eh?!  This one is entitled "Faux Faux Fab Flower" posted on April 24, 2008.   I tried to make a flower using the Faux Leather technique but did not REALLY use Faux Leather, just my own version of it. And a leather flower...why?  :O

So there you have it!  Some ugly cards that will do the opposite of brightening your day.  I have to admit, it kind of makes me want to cry that I actually sent these to my friends and family members, eeeeek!  Link up your own ugliest creation HERE on Suzanne's blog.  You have until midnight tomorrow (April 2) to join in the fun!

  7. Kelly...you are so funny! I just happened to have posted this one a couple of weeks ago, but BELIEVE ME...there are others in my stash that were not even worthy of being photographed!
Your cards are fun to look at...it's amazing the progression that we have all made and one thing I can say is...thank goodness we've made that leap! :) Thanks for the laugh!

  14. I'm not going to read the other comments, but I hope people are agreeing with you on these three, Kelly! If there was a prize, you would get it. I am ROTFL!! You made this hop the hootiest with these fantastically ugly cards. I LOVE you!!

  15. Oh my gosh, I cannot stop laughing? Years ago I found a card in the store that looked like it had tire tracks all over it, the dog chewed it, and someone dropped their lunch on it, and it had a sentiment inside like "this wasn't my choice for your card, but they made me buy it." Your sentiment panel on the 2nd card reminds me of what that card looked like!!! LOL Your cards and titles just made my day, and your sense of humor is over the top! Wasn't this a fun hop to look back? TFS these gems :)

  16. Oh, Kelly, you are SO funny! Your cards are SO NOT YOU today! The funniest had to be your comment about the 'bleeding' panel on your second card! Just shows how far stamping has come. All the techniques and trying out products were just steps on the ladder up!! You're on a top rung now!!

  17. I am laughing too hard. I think that your style has evolved... a lot...since these cards. It is very funny also, to read what you wrote about them, too.

  18. Oh, dear Lord. If we were both drunk making our ugliest cards I think we need to go out together! This is just too much for my eyes to behold over here.

I laughed at your note on my card. ACRIN? No...but do you work in imaging? The message was "I'm All In" - LOL!

Thanks for joining the hop, Kelly!!!

  19. Well, Kelly, I agree that you (and/or your style) have evolved. My fave of your "uglies" is the blood-stained apples... Wasn't this hop a hoot? Literally tripping down memory lane...
