This week at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog, we are treated to a sketch from THE top mouse herself...Claire Brennan!
I made a card with Cicely two weeks ago, and didn't want Gracie to feel jealous. So here she is, Gracie at Halloween!
The color combination came about after a bit of a double dog dare! Did you see Mischief Maker Renee Lynch's awesome Halloween color scheme of navy, orange, and gold HERE for the blog party? We were chatting about it via email, and I told her I wanted to see her create a card with Gracie or Cicely using those colors. Then SHE said that I should shout her new favorite Halloween color scheme from the rooftops! That maybe I should make a card with it or she would be (gasp) disappointed or quite possibly...upset!! So I accepted her challenge. I stamped Gracie in Memento's Nautical Blue ink and colored her with Copics (except the ones I had kind of turned her coat royal blue instead of navy)! The sentiments are also from Gracie at Halloween, and the star cluster is from Midnight Feast.
I am always leery of showing my Copic coloring skills in a close-up shot. Sometimes I feel like I am in kindergarten again, still trying to figure out how to stay in the lines :) I chose background papers from Authentique's "Enchanted" Collection topped with some sparkly gold twine!
Upload your creation with Claire's sketch HERE by next Friday, September 28th. Be sure to include at least one Waltzingmouse Stamps image on your project to be eligible to be the randomly-selected player who will win a WMS stamp set of choice!
Supplies:
Stamps: Gracie at Halloween, Midnight Feast, both Waltzingmouse Stamps
Paper: Authentique "Enchanted" collection, PTI Vintage Cream and Blueberry Sky
Ink: Memento Nautical Blue, Tim Holtz Antique Linen and Tea Dye, Fresh Ink in Capri Blue, PTI Vintage Cream, Copics

How cute! I love how you colored your main image and that houndstooth looks amazing in the background!
ReplyDeleteLove the stars!
ReplyDeletelovely card! Indeed, sometimes when I'm coloring too, I think I'm a child in Kindergarten too.
ReplyDeleteLove from Holland.
Now that was quite a challenge Renee gave you...wouldn't want her "upset" at me either! You did so good, your card is colored perfectly...everything is shaded perfectly. I love the star background and on my monitor, the colors look navy, just like you were going for! Great job Kelly.
ReplyDeleteI love both sets. You did a great job with Renee’s challenge, love the colors and your coloring. Beautiful! I always leave them both not colored .
ReplyDeleteI personally think you did wonderful with the challenge!! Love the papers....perfect background! Sponging and coloring is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteKelly, I love how you made this look so vintage with the shading/distressing! So beautiful!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great Halloween card, Kelly! Love the stars on the background and the fab image! Have a nice weekend! Hugs
ReplyDeleteAdorable Halloween card, Kelly! Who says Halloween should be scary. I love that the cat is NOT black. And the "vintaged-up" look is just perfect!
