Smile Sketch

A card for Freshly Made Sketches!  This week's is by Jen Timko, and I found it to be tricky at first! Then I had a little watercolor adventure party, and my card started to come together...

Here's the sketch...

I wanted to use this cute little camera image from Studio G to make a birthday card.

The heart was paper-pieced with coral paper, and is coated with Glossy Accents.  I used PTI's Watercolor Wonder set and WPlus9's Splat sets.  Inked the images with Distress Inks in Abandoned Coral, Picked Raspberry, Festive Berries, and Squeezed Lemonade, then spritzed them with water before stamping on the paper.  Added some ink straight to my acrylic blocks, too, then spritzed more water and shook above my whole card for some added droplets!

Added a sentiment with PTI's Headline Alphabet dies, cutting the letters from coaster board, and inking them up, too.  Added starbursts (flash bulbs :)) and a sentiment from PTI's Good Times set, and some painted wooden stars and iridescent sequins.  My daughters will like this more modern card to take to a future birthday party!

All Boy Challenge

At the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge, the theme is "All Boy" with this fun photo...

I was inspired by the rocket, the fun constellation pattern, and the splattered colors in the top right corner.  I also loved the detailed background, bright blue, and black/white sentiment on Lisa Henke's inspiration card ;)  I used Waltzingmouse Stamps "Half Pint Heroes" to make my little Rocket Man!

I made my background by embossing white cardstock with the Sizzix "Softly Falling" embossing folder from Stampin Up, then sponging Distress Inks in Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, then Salty Ocean.  Over the top I used two stencils with white embossing paste, an arrow pattern from DCWV, and stars from Heidi Swapp.

The little rocket is paper pieced with a constellation paper from Echo Park, and added some white details with a chalk marker.

Such a fun challenge, and so excited to have a "boy" birthday card since I never have one ready when I need it!

Papertrey Ink Anniversary Challenge

It's Papertrey Ink's 9th Anniversary, with lots of fun challenges posted for the next two weeks!  I decided to play along with Day #2's challenge...to choose an item of clothing online and make a card inspired by it.  With Valentine's Day coming up, I searched for hearts and found this adorable sweater from Talbot's...

Here is my card, using the Pedal Pusher stamp set...

I stamped the bike in Versamark and heat embossed it in white.  The hearts are cut with dies from Love Lives Here (the centers of the butterfly and house dies).  I love the color combination of navy, white, and Berry Sorbet (with a little silver thrown in :)!)

I used Narelle's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches for inspiration.  I tweeked the sizes a little bit to fit the size of my bike :)
Hope to play along more this week!  Started a new job AND am taking a college class, so sadly, I have not had much time for stamping lately.  I hope I don't get too rusty!!  I tried to make a last minute birthday tag on Friday and the results were disastrous!

PS...that sweater MAY be on its way to my closet as we speak,  just saying :)!
