August 12 Kits with Amy!

Time for another edition of The 12 Kits of Occasions!  This month we are celebrating Christmas with a lovely kit from Amy Kolling!

There are lovely stamps and die cuts from Verve and patterned paper by Glitz!

I went with a warm and rustic card for my first, using the lovely Verve wreath and some dark brown paper that I embossed with PTI's Woodgrain impression plate.

My favorite part is all of the berries...tiny Recollections red gems!

My next card took a more elegant turn...

The sentiment is from Waltzingmouse Stamps "Ornate Ornaments" set.  Added a bit of Scor Tape and Doodlebug  "Lily White Sugar" glitter along the bottom.

I layered 2 poinsettias onto a stamped label (both from Verve) and added more Recollections gems.  The beautiful red bracket is left over from Jeanne's kit!!

And for my final project, I went a little whimsical and fun!

That is my favorite Christmas sentiment of all time!  So beautiful and TRUE.

Amy sent us this little banner die cut in red.  I originally was going to use it on a red card base so I decided to paint it with Tim Holtz Picket Fence crackle paint and added some Stampendous Crystal Snow glitter. Didn't end up using it against red but still love the snowy result :)!

Thanks SO much, Amy!  I had such a great time with your kit and as usual, more things have been added to my wishlist!

Amy is even hosting a giveaway this month!  One lucky participant who comments on the 12 Kits August post at the blog HERE will receive a $15 Verve stamp set of choice, yippee!  You have until 10pm CDT, September 6th to comment to win!

Off you go to see more fabulous projects...

Don't forget to keep watch on our blog and our Facebook page HERE for more inspiration with Amy's kit throughout the month!  Thanks for stopping by today!

Love Summer Sketch

It's a celebration at the Freshly Made Sketches blog for their 100th sketch challenge!  They went retro and featured a replay of the very first sketch by Lesley Croghan who started the blog.

I have been wanting to use my "I Heart Summer" paper from Simple Stories, well, all summer!  I decided that I had better get going since there is only a week left in August!  I am so sad to see it coming to an end :(.

We just came back from New Jersey last weekend, and I have some summer thank yous to send out.  One of the patterned papers in this set features a bicycle, which made me think to get out Papertrey Ink's "Pedal Pusher" set.  I loved the heart in the original sketch and so I kept it :)

Some sparkly Stickles and a few blingy enamel dots from the Kathy Davis "Happiness" Collection from GCD Studios.

Congratulations to Freshly Made on their 100th sketch...here's to 100 more!!

Happy Belated Birthday, Marybeth!

Today we are having a little belated birthday blog hop for our lovely friend Marybeth Lopez!  She is such a sweet person, always leaving such kind and encouraging comments for us all.  And WHAT an elegant card maker, too!  I always love her graceful designs with just the right amount of detail.

I tried to make a card that would fit her style and thought the peacock feather from Waltzingmouse Stamps Funky Feathers would do the trick!

Here's a close up of the feathers.

The outer portion is stamped in Memento's new Luxe Pigment ink (in Teal Zeal) which is fabulous stuff!  I colored the inside with a lilac Copic marker and then used the colorless blender around the edges.  The inside purple is A Muse Studio "Grape" pigment ink.  The center dot is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black with a small black rhinestone over the top.  I outlined each feather with a BG10 Copic and then sponged lightly over all of the "white" areas of the cardstock with Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass Distress ink.  Phew!  It was fun to get inky like that!

I stamped the sentiment from Big Day-Today in Versamark ink and heat embossed it with Detail Gold embossing powder from Stampendous.  I didn't really want to cover up the feathers after all that inking!

I hope you had a wonderful day, Marybeth...and an awesome weekend coming up to boot ;)! XO

Waltzingmouse Stamps August Release Previews, Day 3

Oh the day is almost here at Waltzingmouse Stamps!  Tomorrow on Saturday, August 10... Claire will be releasing 9 new stamp sets in the store!  Be sure to watch her blog tomorrow HERE for competition information, more samples, as well as the full reveal of the sets!

Today we are previewing 3 more new sets...(4 if you count a teeny mini)!  They are:  Zig-Zag Backgrounder, Pinstripe Backgrounder (and a Mini Pinstripe Backgrounder), and Big Day-Today!

I decided to pair another new set, Funky Flowers with the Zig-Zag Backrounder and a gorgeous sentiment from Big Day-Today!  We've all been waiting for more sentiments in the lovely fonts of Big Day-Essentials and Big Day-Additions and Claire created such versatile ones!

A big of a wild color scheme for me!  I am a bit obsessed with white embossing powder lately.  So I heat embossed the Zig-Zag Backgrounder in white on Raspberry Fizz cardstock.  Then, I also embossed the Funky Flowers on colored cardstocks (Raspberry Fizz, A Muse Studio Buttercup yellow, and the leaves in Hawaiian Shores).

It's a bit hard to see but after embossing the flowers, I then covered them with Stickles and added pink rhinestones to the center.  Also made my own little piece of glitter tape by "Stickling up" some coordinating cardstock cut into a very thin strip.

Next the new nautical set Ocean Bound paired with a sweet sentiment from Big Day-Today and the Pinstripe Backgrounder (it's sooo awesome)!!

I love the soft look of the stripes.  They are stamped in A Muse Studio's Seattle ink, such a soft warm gray!

So be SURE to come back tomorrow at 2:00 PM EST for the traditional Release Day Blog Hop with the whole Design Team!

Waltzingmouse Stamps August Release Previews, Day 2

Back for another day of Waltzingmouse Stamps previews!  Claire will be releasing 9 new stamps sets this Saturday, August 10th!  Today we are leaving the nautical sets for a bit and showcasing some beautiful floral sets!  There are 3 for this release:  2-Step Flowers, Simple Sprig, and Funky Flowers!

My first card features the gorgeous, detailed 2-Step Flowers ...

I stamped mine with a little bit of a rainbow theme in mind.  That sentiment?  (Shh, it's a secret, until tomorrow)!

After stamping them, I painted on some glue from a gluestick with a tiny paintbrush and added some clear glitter.  So sparkly in real life!

And a card with Simple Sprig that took a decidedly Christmas-y turn ( I originally thought I was stamping a baby card)!

I stamped and embossed the gorgeous leaves and berries in the set and added a sentiment from the previously-released Ornate Ornaments.

The details in this card are in the embossing, so here's a close up!  More amazing detail from Claire!

The leaves are stamped with Versamark and embossed in clear powder, the sentiment and berries embossed with white powder, and then little red Liquid Pearls are dotted along the sprigs, too.

Waltzingmouse Stamps August Release Previews, Day 1

Claire has the most awesome release at Waltzingmouse Stamps to round out the summer!  She is releasing 9 new sets this Saturday, August 10th!  Today we are featuring 3 sets...and they are sure to be the most beautiful nautical sets that you have EVER seen! Claire and our sweet DT member Renee Lynch collaborated on these sets and did such an amazing job!   They are:  Ocean Bound, Safe Harbor Sentiments, and Tying the Knot.

Up first is a little set of projects inspired by this nautical book bag that I saw when walking through a Barnes & Noble book store the other day...

Blue French Stripe Canvas Summer Tote with Seahorse Charm (14'' x 16'' x 7'')

I found this adorable tutorial for making totes from Amanda Coleman seen HERE and made some nautical ones of my own using some 12x12 papers (Bo Bunny, The Paper Loft, Recollections) and images from Ocean Bound.

First up is one that would be such a fun way to give a gift card for an "old salty" guy in your life :)

The little tag is made with images from the set.  And as you can see, I got out my sewing machine for these projects!  Good thing it already had red thread in it, because that was just what I wanted.  Not sure I would have been able to re-thread it without studying the manual for a few hours!

This one is my version of the Barnes and Noble tote!

I just LOVE those seahorses!  This one would be sweet for a baby shower gift card:)

Up next are 2 cards that are both rather CAS for me, but I have to say...with these sets, the cards practically make themselves.  Some more images from Ocean Bound for a background.  The sentiment was heat embossed with white powder on vellum, and then placed over woodgrain paper.

And a lovely sentiment from Safe Harbor Sentiments, possibly one of the coolest sentiment sets ever created for encouragement cards.

I paired it with some textured paper from DCWV and more images from Ocean Bound (and I still have more to use from that set)!

Isn't this SUCH an exciting release already?!  Come back to see 3 more sets showcased tomorrow!

IMPORTANT NEWS:  There has been an email glitch in Claire's computer system, so she would like any customers (past or present!) to go read her blog post HERE for information about how to sign up again to receive emails from Waltzingmouse Stamps!  As you can see from today's release previews, you wouldn't want to miss THOSE!

Be sure to visit the DT members' blogs for more awesome nautical projects today!

Challenge Chicks for August

It's time for another round of Challenge Chicks!  Sadly I missed Christmas in July last month, but I am back to celebrate FLOWERS this month with Diane!

I chose a Camellia by Waltzingmouse Stamps...

I colored it with Copic makers and paired it with some "5th & Frolic" paper from American Crafts.

I also cut 3 separate Camellias and layered them up with dimensionals.  I thought the paper in the background reminded me of mini ones!

I also used this week's sketch (turned on its side) from Freshly Made Sketches.  It was created by Jennifer Timko.

We would love for you to create a floral project with us this month!  Just upload your creation to Splitcoaststampers using the keyword "CHXAUG13" or post it on your blog and link it to our Facebook page HERE!
