Crazy Curry Rose
Yikers! For Betty's Color Challenge at SCS, Crushed Curry, Dusty Durango and Bermuda Bay. I substituted PTI's Terracotta Tile and Hawaiian Shores cardstock. I colored the rose with Martha Stewart watercolor markers and a waterbrush. Used PTI's Year of the Flower: Rose and Background Basics: Tin Types in Fresh Snow ink. Not too sure how I feel about this one...it sure is BRIGHT, hee!
In a pickle...
At Splitcoast on Monday, the Clean and Simple (CAS) challenge was to use the colors Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue, and Pumpkin Pie (those are the hostess Jen's fave colors!). I have been dying to use the new Friendship Jar and Additions sets from Papertrey Ink! So I used the cute pickle images, and the dies for the jar, top, and label.
I altered the biggest jar topper image by covering the bottom with the gingham stamp/die, cutting off the tag, and wrapping twine around the "ribbon". I substituted Tim Holtz Distress in Shabby Shutters (green), Tumbled Glass (blue on the label!), and Spiced Marmalade (orange), and PTI's New Leaf for the pickles. Gingham paper is by October Afternoon. I think I could use this set all day long!

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #4
Another weekend means another sketch from Claire Brennan of Waltzingmouse Stamps! This one she admitted herself is a bit key-razy! She even gave us permission to go a bit wild with it, and that is what I did!
I used WMS's Earth Angel and Pic-Nic Patterns sets for the sketch:
(Edited to add: This was the card that was named in the Top 3 at the Sketch Blog and earned me my Waltzingmouse Top Mouse Blinkie! My first blinkie ever! Thanks to Claire and all of the WMS ladies!)
It is difficult to tell but I paper-pierced the grid pattern instead of using different papers. Made the sweet girl's dress using a combo of patterns from Pic-Nic Patterns. As you can see I was liberal on my use of the circle shape...but I could NOT resist that jump rope image any longer!
Don't forget to visit the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog yourself and post a card before Thursday at midnight. If 100 people play during this round, Claire is randomly drawing the name of a participant to win a free stamp set of their choice, yay! This is a huge win, because she is releasing new stamps this week!!

Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!
This month's Papertrey Ink Blog Hop is all about color combinations!
My combo is: Hawaiian Shores, Simply Chartreuse, Summer Sunrise, and White!
I went against my usual folksy inclinations (no kraft or Vintage Cream??!) and was inspired by SUMMER and the newest PTI colors! Used the circle pattern from Background Basics: Retro in Fresh Snow ink on Hawaiian Shores cardstock. I colored the Friends 'til the End daisy with Martha Stewart watercolor markers and a waterbrush using Summer Sunrise shades. Tied the bottom with Simply Chartreuse twill tape. The sentiment peeking from the side is from the Round and Round Anniversary set.
Can't wait to add all of these inspiring color combos to my list...thanks for visiting!
Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #3
Finally got around to the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge this week!
It's my favorite one yet, but this card took me the loooongest!! I just could not get a bow working, so I topped my pear-fect pear with a twine bow!
Got me some new stamps from over the pond (they arrived soooo quickly from Ireland, THANKS CLAIRE!) FINALLY got "Peace and Plenty" which I have wanted since the very beginning of Waltzingmouse Stamps! Also used the zig zag border from Faux Fun (I am finding it difficult not to use the "sweater" pattern on all of my cards!!). Sentiment and Vintage Tea Leaves paper from Papertrey Ink.
Seriously...you must go look at the Design Team samples from this week's sketch, they are A-MA-ZING! And remember! A new sketch challenge is posted tomorrow, yippee!

Waltzingmouse Blog Hop!
The theme for the Waltzingmouse Blog Hop this month is masculine cards. Eva and Claire always have one birthday party or another to go to, so I made a card for the next boy!
Used stars and sentiment from Sewing Box Hugs, and then stamped the "stem" from the flowers across them in a stripedy pattern. Background is the knit pattern from Faux Fun. Cardstock is Enchanted Evening, kraft, and Vintage Cream from Papertrey Ink. The hardest part about masculine cards is the embellishing! So I kept it to a minimum with a little twine and paper-piercing around the sentiment at the top.
Will join the waltz later when I get home...thanks to Lisa for being the Link Master for me again!

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #2
It's the weekend, so that means that a new sketch is posted at Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog! I used the heart and sentiment from WMS Sewing Box Hugs, Polka Dot Basics and Background Basics: Retro from PTI, and the retired Linen Background from Stampin Up. Claire and her Design Team always have beautiful samples posted, so go on over and take a peek!

Pattern Happy
Roxie's sketch challenge today at SCS was fuuuuun! I used October Afternoon, Cosmo Cricket, and Bo Bunny papers and used dies, punches, and nesties all on the same card...a first for me! PTI's cloud dies, the SU Top Note die, and an oval nestie. Images from PTI's Fly Away and sentiment from Enjoy the Ride. Thanks for looking!

Out on a Limb
Today's Clean and Simple Challenge at Splitcoast was to highlight a quote or verse on a card. I used this quote from the Branching Out set by There She Goes stamps, the retired Linen Background from Stampin Up, and a leafy vine from Turning a New Leaf by PTI. I thought it would make a good graduation card (even though I don't need one quite yet!). Used the Rock 'n Roll Technique on the leaves to make them two-tone with Tim Holtz Distress inks in Crushed Olive and Forest Moss.
Please excuse the grey-ish picture. I think I have to make adjustments on my camera, just not sure what yet!!
Annnnd OMG... this is a OLC...that's a One Layer Card in case you don't speak "card", hee! I can't believe I made one without any extra layers! That's a first in a looooong time!

Lillies!
Made this card for the Sketch Challenge and the Color Challenge this week at SCS. The colors were Barely Banana, Close to Cocoa, and Garden Green. Betty wanted us to add flourished pearls for dessert, and Soft Sky for the cherry on top! I TOLD my pearls to take the shape of a flourish, but they are very orderly and lined up just like this :) My Close to Cocoa is hard to see because after I watercolored the lillies, I stamped over the entire panel with Close to Cocoa ink on my Linen Background stamp from SU. Used PTI sets Year of the Flower: Lily of the Valley, and Background Basics: Retro.
